How to Maximize Your Verandah Space

How to Maximize Your Verandah SpaceAnyone would want to customize his or her home to be in a manner that makes him or her happy. This requires great creativity coupled with some guidance from experts in designing and landscaping to give the home an elegant look. Various areas in the home may require different forms of decorations. You should be careful not to spoil the natural look with too many artificial decors. If you have a huge verandah, it would not make sense leaving all that space idle. A good idea would be placing some outdoor seats where you can relax during hot or cold days.

This can be a bright idea if you want to have a relaxing feel of the cool outdoor breeze. You can have the seats for taking various meals or beverages outside. These should be placed strategically to ensure you do not experience the harsh sunrays often experienced during summer or the extreme cold during winter. This is a great way of decongesting your living area too as you can have the dining area in the verandah.

Some people prefer having such kinds of seats to have various night activities like watching a movie with family. You can even project it on the wall of the house to produce a larger image compared to TV. Your kids will definitely find this fun as they may stay up late watching their favorite programs.

When opting to have any sofas or other kinds of seats placed outdoors, you must ensure they are rust resistant since the humidity experienced outdoors is likely to corrode anything made of iron. Another great feature that such seats have is that they do not get socked especially when it rains. All you need to do is wipe them with a dry clothe which guarantees easy maintenance.

‘Suffah’ or Sofa? Interesting Facts About the Origin of Sofas

If you walked into a family home in Europe any time up through the late 1600s, you would wonder where anyone sat. Soft, padded furniture was not common. People sat on backless benches, trunks, and individual chairs with minimal padding. The sofa or couch as we know it simply didn’t yet exist.

Furniture designed for reclining has existed for centuries—they had them in ancient Rome, and low pieces of furniture covered with cushions and blankets were common in the Middle East. But it wasn’t until the 1670s that English and French furniture makers developed wider cushioned chairs that resemble the sofas of today.

What is believed to be one of the first modern sofas ever built still exists. Built around 1690, it’s in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Its maker called it a “double Windsor chair without division.” While it’s lushly upholstered with rich brocade fabric, the piece is only lightly padded—it’s hardly the cozy seat you’d expect to see.

The term “sofa,” which is believed to be adapted from the Arabic word “sopha” or “suffah,” which means “cushion,” didn’t take off in England as quickly as it did in France. Nevertheless, the French word for sofa is canapé, which in English means an appetizer or hors d’oeuvre.

As sofas became commonplace in French drawing rooms and parlors, a new style of sitting arose. Instead of sitting stiff and straight, ladies of nobility were painted reclining, sitting with their feet tucked up under them, and generally lounging on their lovely, comfortable new sofas. The change in posture was so extreme that German visitors to the French court remarked at the undignified postures, remarking that it no longer looked like a Royal court. They worried that relaxed postures would lead to relaxed morals.

Gradually, the sofa became a standard item in homes all over Europe and the Americas. Today, sofas are the centerpiece of most living rooms, and whether we’ve chosen a reclining sectional or a sleek modern piece, we can’t imagine life without our favorite seat.

    Buying Outdoor Furniture For Restaurants

With spring just round the corner, this is the right time for restaurants to start scouting for outdoor furniture. After all, spring and summer are seasons when people love to dine outdoors and enjoy the lovely weather. So if your restaurant has a deck or patio, you can increase your revenue by arranging outdoor restaurant tables and chairs to lure more customers.

Tips on buying outdoor furniture for restaurants:

     The-Available-Space

Before you buy outdoor furniture for your restaurant, consider the available space. Look at the space and the size of the space. You may have to get the necessary permission to use the sidewalk for your customers. The size of the space will dictate the kind of outdoor furniture you buy. If the space is small, you can think about buying square tables that can seat about two to four people. This will allow you to seat as many people as possible while still ensuring there is sufficient space between the tables for guests to walk. If the available space is large, you can let your creativity loose. You can place tables in groups of varying shapes and mixing and matching tables and chair can be visually quite appealing. If you want a more informal, yet comfortable outdoor dining area, think about adding a sofa.

     The Theme

It goes without saying that your outdoor seating area should coordinate with your indoor seating area. Hence, you need to ensure that the furniture you are using outdoors complements the furniture indoors in terms of color and style. This will not only be visually appealing, it will also extend the homely and comfortable ambience outdoors. Think about getting plastic laminate furniture for your outdoor seating area, as you can get them in a variety of colors and styles. You should be able to find something to go with your furniture indoors.

    The Budget

Have a budget in mind when you are scouting for outdoor furniture for your restaurant. You can find tables, chairs and barstools in a range of prices, but make sure that they fit into your budget. The good news is that you can rely on Everything Outdoor Furniture to supply you with quality outdoor-furniture for your restaurant and you will be amazed at the budget-friendly choices you will have.

    The Climate

Climate is an important aspect when choosing outdoor furniture. The last thing you want is your investment ruined due to inclement weather. While majority of southern states have great climate throughout the year, the same cannot be said about the rest of the states in the U.S. If your restaurant is situated near the sea or gets a lot of wind, you will have to buy outdoor furniture that can withstand these natural elements. Also, rains and heavy sunshine are other weather patterns that you should take into account when buying the furniture. Tables made from granite and laminate are lightweight and durable, and can be stowed away easily when not in use. Metal chairs and outdoor barstools are also great for outdoor use.

If you need help or assistance choosing the right outdoor furniture for your restaurant, contact Everything-Outdoor-Furniture today and get the furniture that adds more value to your outdoor-dining-area.

Get the Right Covers to Protect Your Furniture

Covers For Patio FurnitureThe most important investment in a person’s life is a home. Hence, a person uses different ways to decorate it. Furniture not only enhances the appearance of a home, it also fulfills the need to sit down and spend quality time with family and friends. And, if you have a patio, there is nothing like keeping outdoor furniture, so that you can admire your garden and also enjoy time with your loved ones.

Why You Need Covers for Your Patio Furniture

If you have furniture in your patio or deck, you definitely should consider covers for it. Not only will the covers protect your furniture from the elements, they will also enhance their beauty. If you leave your outdoor furniture exposed to the elements, you will have to spend money every year to replace the furniture and it will also mar the beauty of a patio or deck. Imagine having rusted or damaged furniture or weather beaten upholstery? It can ruin the very ambience of your beautiful-home.

Getting the Right Covers to Protect Your Furniture

Many people resort to using old blankets to protect their outdoor furniture. Unfortunately this method is completely futile. Instead when you use covers that are specifically made for outdoor furniture, you ensure that they fit correctly and offer protection.

Before you buy covers, make sure you measure the parts that you want protected. This will ensure that you make the right size selection. The fit of the cover has to be perfect for it to do its work. Furthermore, when the fit is right, it is easier to put on and take off the cover.

Since you are living in Orange County, California, it is imperative that you get covers that can protect your outdoor furniture from all the elements. Check with the store whether the covers can offer protection against UV rays, which can fade the upholstery; bird droppings, which can mar the upholstery; wind, moisture and pests.

Once you have the right covers for your outdoor furniture, you can heave a sigh of relief. Not only will the covers protect the upholstery, they will ensure that your furniture lasts for years to come, without having to spend money to replace it.

So if you moving to Orange Country, remodeling your home or you just want to ensure your patio furniture lasts long, consider getting covers. At Everything Outdoor Furniture, not only will you find great-looking covers, you can be certain that they will fit your furniture precisely.

The best thing about having a patio is that it is the perfect place to entertain your family and your guests. Without question, your patio is an extension of your indoor living space and it is the ideal place to host parties, barbecues, and even the occasional sing along.

Here are some tips to make your patio a warm and welcoming place where your family and friends will want to sit back and relax on those quiet evenings and weekends.

    Keep Your Patio Clutter Free

Whether your patio is large or small, you want people to be able to stretch out and not feel boxed in by too much furniture, barbecue grills, bicycles, and other items that will obstruct the space.

    Choose Furniture That Is Comfortable

You want your family and guests to be able to relax and not become sore when they’re sitting on your benches and chairs. That’s why things like reclining seats, lounges, and padded chairs are always a good fit for any patio. Whatever furniture you choose, be sure that it is washable and won’t stain easily.

    Stylish Patio Design Ideas

Whether you’re planning a new patio area in your garden, or working with an existing space, turning that outdoor spot into a stylish extra living area is probably the most rewarding home improvement project you will ever undertake.

Your first step will be choosing an attractive surface area – paving slabs and wooden decking are popular choices, but both have separate upkeep considerations, so make sure that it works for you.

Beautiful furniture really takes the indoors outdoors, and patio furniture has moved on considerably since the days of cheap plastic tables and chairs that would discolor and date quickly.  Whether you go for a traditional patio set, or are aiming for a more contemporary style, make quality your watchword, and go for the best you can afford.  Whether relaxing as a family or entertaining friends, it’s an expense you won’t regret.

With stylish and efficient heating and lighting now available, you may find that only the bleakest winter months keep you indoors – again, tie your look in with your interior decor, and you’ll feel that your patio really is an extra room.

With entertaining in mind, you may wish to consider planning a small cooking area – whether you decide on portable apparatus, or a more permanent structure, give thought to look as well as function to give a streamlined and modern effect.

Lastly, once you have your patio haven looking and feeling just as you want it, make sure it stays that way – if you’re overlooked by neighbors, or from the street, consider growing trailing plants to give you privacy.  Good interim solutions whilst you’re waiting for plants to grow can be ready-potted shrubbery, or even attractive plastic shelters or gazebos – useful for shielding you from sudden summer showers as well as any prying eyes.
